LabKey Datasets


All the data of a study is saved in datasets. These datasets are part of a relational database.
The data in each datasets is linked through a unique ID, the primary key. For a clinical trial it would be the patient ID, but depending of the study, it could be mice ID, plants ID or cells ID.

Main features about datasets:
  • Datasets are listed by categories.



  • Permission to access to the datasets are customizable: you can modulate the rights to read, edit or save for each groups or members.



  • Datasets are completly customizable. Fields can be text, number, date, links, and more. You can choose rules to validate the fields, choose the format to be more or less strict .


  • For example you can choose to force the date formating: yyyy-MM-dd


    And you can define rules, like a minimum or a maximum:


  • Once the dataset is defined, you can customize the view.


  • You can sort and filter columns:

  • Datasets can be exported in Excel format.
